We are working on the MGS Quality Improvement System toolkit (QIS). It is a simple self-assessment tool for Accredited museums and galleries.
The toolkit will help evaluate your activities, support planning and highlight areas for improvement.
We have designed the toolkit to collect data that can feed directly into existing regional and national frameworks, while avoiding duplication of work.
QIS works by measuring the effectiveness of one or more of the following:
- Service planning and development
- Access, inclusion and user’s experience
- Promoting learning
- Managing resources
- Leadership, ethos and values
- Improving collections management
Services will be rated on a six point scale in keeping with HMIE (Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education) models.
Development
The scheme has been piloted with both independent and local authority museums and galleries.
